With DokiCare, we created a TeleHealth app that prioritises under-served patients, allowing them to connect with healthcare professionals instantly. The intuitive design facilitates in-home appointments and medical advice, making healthcare accessible anytime, anywhere.
Context
Healthcare Accessibility
In Nigeria, access to quick and responsive healthcare services is a major challenge. Long wait times and overburdened hospitals make it difficult for patients to get timely medical attention.
Patient Frustration:
The current healthcare system forces patients to wait in long queues, often for hours, for consultations, leading to frustration and poor healthcare experiences.
Medical Professionals Shortage
A growing number of doctors are relocating to other countries, leaving local health centers understaffed and patients underserved.

Doctors: Overwhelmingly cited Telehealth as the way to reduce self-medication and provide timely care. They also emphasised the importance of improving access to healthcare, especially during times when physical visits to hospitals are difficult.

Patients: Many users reported long wait times and the need to visit hospitals early to secure appointments, only to be delayed further by overloaded doctors.
Respondents noted the inefficiency in registration and consultation processes, along with the financial strain of repeated visits and appointments

Impact
DokiCare has significantly improved healthcare accessibility for over 35 million under-served demography in West Africa. By bridging the gap between doctors and patients, reducing wait times, and providing on-demand medical services, it offers a convenient and effective alternative to traditional healthcare visits.
