14.8% lift in adoption and 2M+ downloads by transforming Africa’s first fully digital bank

When ALAT pioneered fully digital banking in Africa, it quickly gained traction with individuals. But its business banking arm struggled to make the same impact. The product was locked to the web, adoption was weak, and the experience didn’t match the ambition of a platform aiming to redefine business banking.
I led the design revamp that simplified onboarding, improved core banking flows, and extended accessibility to mobile. That shift unlocked growth and gave business owners a banking tool that matched how they actually work.

Lack of Market Impact: ALAT for Business, despite the success of ALAT's digital banking, failed to make a strong impact in the business banking sector.
Web-Only Limitation: The platform was limited to a web-based service, restricting user accessibility and engagement.

Strategic Decisions
I led discovery sessionS with stakeholders and product owners to align business objectives with user satisfaction. This session focused on understanding the users' experiences, pain points, and business needs. A survey was also conducted by product owners, gathering insights from customers and relationship managers regarding their experience on the old platform.
Additionally, a competitive analysis of leading generation banks both locally and globally was carried out. This allowed us to draw inspiration for seamless onboarding, payments, and loans integration, aiming to enhance the UI/UX of ALAT for Business.
